Sam Raimi führt Regie im Warcraft Film

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures announced today that Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the major motion picture based on the Warcraft® universe. Raimi directed the Spider-Man trilogy, which has broken box-office records around the world and garnered five Academy Award® nominations. Known for his imaginative filmmaking style, richly drawn characters and offbeat humor, Raimi wrote and directed the cult classic, The Evil Dead or Army of Darkness.
Charles Roven( Dark Knight, 12 Monkeys), who won two Academy Awards, producer will join his team on the side off Alex Gartner, Thomas Thull, John Jahni and Joshua Donen. Chris Metzen, Blizzard’s Senior Vice President of Creative Development will Co produce the Movie.
“At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story,” said Raimi. “I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.” I think the film is in good hands, Legendary Pictures has done quite good movies in the past and the fact that Uwe Boll will not direct it give me hope that the film will be graet. And the fact that Blizzard is deeply envolved in the procedure is another good sign.

Known Facts
Two years ago when Blizzard came up with the plan at Blizzcon, they also talkt about the story and the style. So on the movie take place bevore the happenings in World of Warcraft. Also they say that it will not be animated like the Cinematics in WoW, it will be a Live-Action Movie. Some Charakters like Thrall will also show up but aren’t the leading rols.
Raimi have to finish Spider-Man 4 bevore he will start shoting Warcraft so we have time and hopefully we will know more after the upcoming blizzcon in August.
